Yum! Brands Inc Launches Biggest Global Hunger Relief Campaign
Yum! Brands, Inc. (NYSE: YUM), the worlds largest restaurant company with nearly 35,000 KFC, Pizza Hut, Taco Bell, Long John Silvers and A&W Restaurants, will make a major commitment at the upcoming Clinton Global Initiative to bolster awareness of global hunger, spur volunteerism and raise funds to benefit the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP), the worlds frontline organization in the fight against hunger. In 2007, Yum!s inaugural World Hunger Relief campaign became the worlds largest private-public effort to fight hunger by raising $16 million USD for WFP and other hunger relief organizations in one week. Those funds provided the WFP unrestricted funds to combat hunger globally. This year, Yum! will expand its efforts beyond a week to a full month, and bolster its campaign as the hunger crisis reaches epic proportions.
